Knowledge and Love
A poem on 1 Corinthians 8:3
Some imply God can be known.
Some say, “Just love.”
From my library that has grown,
It might seem God can be known,
But my mind can’t see above.
Paul said we can be known by Him,
And this knowing through love
Beats any whim
Thus thought of.Now concerning things sacrificed to idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge makes arrogant, but love edifies. If anyone supposes that he knows anything, he has not yet known as he ought to know; but if anyone loves God, he is known by Him. 1 Corinthians 8:1–3
On November 1, I wrote a poem based on the rhyming scheme of “The Road Not Taken.” Today’s is based on “Fire and Ice.” I’m working on verse, so I’m sitting at the feet of one of the best, Robert Frost.
