What Happened to the Man who Built Bigger Barns?
Luke 12:16–21 (NAS): And He told them a parable, saying, “The land of a rich man was very productive.
17 “And he began reasoning to himself, saying, ‘What shall I do, since I have no place to store my crops?’
18 “Then he said, ‘This is what I will do: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods.
19 ‘And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years to come; take your ease, eat, drink and be merry.” ’
20 “But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your soul is required of you; and now who will own what you have prepared?’
21 “So is the man who stores up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.”
During the pandemic, billionaires increased their wealth by 27.5%!
While thousands upon thousands lost their jobs, their lives, and suffered mentally and physically, these super rich members of society profited.
It is our duty as Christians to hold them accountable. The love of money is the root of all evil, and since we are to stand up against evils in the world, we have the take a stand.
They could contribute billions to assisting the homeless, single parents, school systems, and countless other programs while still maintaining a far above average lifestyle.
Instead, they have fooled us into blaming the foreigner and the immigrant when they are the ones who refuse to pay a livable wage, provide proper working conditions, and choose to exploit inhumane systems that allow them to take advantage of people and the environment.
If we are truly pro life, then we will demand change.
