The Goal of All Bible Study (Jan 31-Feb 6, 2021)
“But the goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith” (1 Timothy 1:5). Love, a good conscience, and a sincere faith should be the goal that any teacher or student of God’s word should strive for. Anytime someone preaches, teaches another, or studies by themselves, this goal should be in their sights. People who study just to prove others wrong, lift themselves up, or justify their actions have missed the whole point of why Jesus came to this earth. Jesus’ first and second command is that love one another. Jesus’ death enables us to have a clean conscience. And the testimony of the apostles provides us with a sincere faith. This is what biblical preaching and teaching should produce, and this is what we, as a congregation, should strive to accomplish in our community. If we are to function in the way God designed, then we must put this plan into action.
