Hello to all of my friends.
Some of you have been subscribed to me since 2016. Others just subscribed this week.
Regardless of how long you have been a follower of mine, I appreciate you and cherish the time we have together.
Throughout my ministry I’ve written on several different sites. I started my website https://labornotinvain.com in 2016. I wrote hundreds of blogs and articles for it as well as recorded a number of podcasts. In 2021, when I started my new ministry in north Alabama, I migrated my main site to a new page: https://danielr.net.
This platform was fresh and new, but I lost many subscribers because of the transition.
Last November, I moved yet again to Substack. I had run into several issues with Wordpress which caused my posts not to load correctly, and I heard a lot of good things about this site.
Today, I’ve gone back through my contact forms from Labor Not in Vain and my personal site and added all of you here to Substack. I hope you choose to stay around.
Throughout all these changes, old friends have drifted away and new friends have appeared. Some of you have been with me through all of these transitions.
But this is how life goes, right? Things happen. We change. We grow. We change our minds. And with these shifts can often change who we are around.
But none of the changes in our life have been in vain because when we follow the Lord, we know that we may have our ups and downs, but we also know that God is with us every step of the way.
As Paul says in 1 Corinthians 15:5 and Philippians 2:16, our labor in not in vain in the Lord.
I’ve invited you all to this platform because I am ready to be who God has called me to be. I want to throw aside my inhibitions and speak boldly with grace, wisdom, and love.
I want to write more on eschatology again. I want to keep writing on grace and on the truth that God is love. I want to create Bible class material that is accessible to all and to teach people to fall in love with Father, Son, and Spirit as well as Scripture.
And to do this, I want you here.
Whether you agree with everything I say or respond to every post with a rebuttal, I want you here. Because all of us need to be included in this Great Conversation. Just remember to be kind.
All of my posts here are free. Every now and then I’ll send out an exclusive one to paid subscribers as a thank you, but everyone else gets it a week later unless it is something specifically for them.
But becoming a paid subscriber is a way to support what I do, purchase or replace equipment and software, and pay for the fees to maintain my site and other things necessary to do what I do. It also makes me really happy.
Regardless, you are welcome here, welcome to comment on my posts, and welcome to walk away.
Thank you for reading this, and thank you for being with me throughout the years.
Let’s Catch Up
If you haven’t been here in a while, let’s catch up. Send me a message here, or you can find me on most social media sites. Check below for a summary of what I’ve been up to.
Sermon Posts
If you’re interested in what I’ve been teaching lately, I post weekly sermons and devotionals every Monday. I’ve been working through the Revised Common Lectionary gospel texts as a fun challenge.
Here’s the one from last week.
Podcasts
I’m also seven episodes into a podcast season for a podcast I took over called Exploring Faith, Pursuing Grace, which is where this blog gets its name.
You can listen to the latest episodes on YouTube, Podbean, or your preferred podcasting app. This episode is with a new cohost of mine, Kyler Burk.
Today, I released an episode with Jason Clark of Rethinking God with Tacos.
Bible Class Material
I’ve also created several Bible class handouts for parables, Malachi, Galatians, Hebrews, and 1 John. Some of these are simple handouts, but others are more like quick commentaries, like the ones on Hebrews and 1 John.
You can find those here: https://danielr.net/handouts/
Feel free to browse recent posts on my Substack, utilize the search bar, and reach out to me with any questions.
I look forward to working with you all in the future!
