How Much Would You Pay?
In Matthew 20, Jesus told a parable about laborers who worked in a vineyard for various hours, but the owner of the vineyard paid everyone equally. Those who had been working since early morning thought the owner was unfair. The owner of the vineyard said, “Is it not lawful for me to do what I wish with what is my own? Or is your eye envious because I am generous?” Have you ever felt envious of someone who came to some truth after you? “I figured it out first…” you might think to yourself. In this, God calls us to peace. You or I aren’t better than someone who realizes they’ve done wrong later in life. We are all on the same team, working towards the same goal. Instead of being envious, rejoice with those who wake up, and don’t act superior because you figured it out first because It’s all by grace.
