Some of these haikus are sets and are meant to be read together; these are marked off with dividers.
All these Lovely Souls
All these lovely souls
Contemplating history
Our faith family
Our faith family
Broken and true and confused
They are just like us
They are just like us
So how are we showing grace
They were just seeking
They were just seeking
Scraping knees along the way
All these lovely souls
Three on Truth
Like rain falling down
Truth sinks down into the heart
You’re trying too hard
I have the answers
But only to my questions
What are you asking
Knowing unknowing
Let go and be known by God
Be like a desert
On the Trinity
Too Three to be one
A diverse Union of Love
Too One to be three
Clothed in human flesh
He appeared as a servant
This is who God is
Behold kenosis!
A man on a cross in tears
Divine drops of Love
On Goodness
It’s all holy now
Not just this but everything
How could it not be
On Community
Organized chaos
The aim of community
The One and many
Layers and layers
Our worlds begin to collide
Community formed
Community lost
Wandering around alone
Seeking a new home
Here at SSU
What was lost can now be found
A new family
A strong sense of self
Eludes my mind as I search
Will you seek with me?
Insider language
Is hard to get away from
I must be patient
On Persecution
Daud suffered for Christ
”You can’t even spell this word.”
It’s “percesutoin”
What have I given?
I can’t begin to describe
Sloth or amnesia?
On Intimacy
We are face to face
You lovingly look at me
Into me you see
What is this God like?
The look that sustains my soul
The God who gazes
My feet are right here
In a room filed with much love
What is loneliness?
A long, loving look
The Real stands before my soul
And then He looks back
Don’t leave me today
I can’t do this without you
A shield about me
On Mark 10:46-52
How could my faith heal?
I thought you did the healing!
I have agency?
From My Walks
Saturday Contemplative Day with Rachael
The gate of heaven:
Find a place void of its Grace.
It’s always open
It’s time to slow down
Winding path to the center
Learning still moving
Am I all alone?
I don’t have to fix myself
I’m a creature too
When souls get restless
Stunned by the forethought of grief
Seek peace from wild things
When you feel alone
Seek the cloud of witnesses
We want to love you
Love your poems that flowed from your experience at SSU! We did our online time with Rachel and this what I write after one of the exercises of gazing into God.
(God speaking to me)
You are hurried and worried
Be a peace and breathe
Breathe in my love
I see your true you
I accept you as you are
My image in you shining forth
as you look at me looking at you, smiling
The haikus poured forth
What a healing time for you
Just look at you go!
