90 Day Bible Reading Challenge
Towards the end of last year, Dr. Dallas Burdette challenged me to read through the entire Bible in 90 days. I recently completed his challenge and will do it again over the next 90 days. I want to invite you to join me on this journey that will start Monday February 15th. I'll post the schedule Sunday evening.
If you would like to accept the challenge, be sure to comment to let others know.
Here's what the ninety days will look like and some tips:
Each day I will make an additional post to my blog with a small overview of the reading for that day. I'll include questions to answer, themes to look for, or simple facts about the reading; it just depends on what section of the Bible we are in.
The daily reading takes anywhere between 30 minutes to an hour, depending on how fast you read and what section we are in. Some sections flow faster than others.
If you have any comments, questions, or observations about what you read, include those in the comments on the post and try to take part in interacting with others. Doing so will make reading more enjoyable.
Keep a highlighter and notepad handy. Personally, I use the Logos Bible app and use that to highlight and take clippings of specific verses. I encourage you to pick out a few things to look for throughout the Bible. You might look for examples of worship, prophetic language, the number three, or just anything that will give you a reason to read on the days it can get difficult. Personally, I'll be keeping track of all the mentions of the poor, widows, and orphans.
If you have access to a Bible app on your phone, take advantage of it during the day when you get a spare moment to read.
Most importantly, if you fall behind, do not sweat it. Instead, just keep going at your own pace. Do this for yourself and no one else. You can always interact with older posts as you go.
Even if you can't read the Bible with us, you can always read the overviews I'll be posting throughout the 90 days.
What to look for on Sunday evening
I'll post the entire schedule, reading task, and my comments, questions, and observations that night. Each night after that, I will post the reading task for the following day on top of my usual article that goes out at 9AM. So, you will get two posts from me each day.
I look forward to reading through the Bible with you!
